Our School Health Program!

Bridging the Gap, One Kit at a Time

Bridging the Gap, One Kit at a Time

Bridging the Gap, One Kit at a Time

Our School Health Program is transforming the lives of girls—and boys—in rural Cotes-de-Fer, Haiti. Through this initiative, we provide reusable menstrual hygiene kits and essential health education, ensuring no girl misses school because of her period.

Why It Matters

In many villages, 90% of girls report being unable to afford or access disposable pads, leading to frequent school absences and disrupted learning. Our program addresses this by:

  • Providing reusable, sustainable hygiene kits

  • Delivering menstrual and puberty education for girls aged 8–14

  • Empowering girls with dignity, knowledge, and confidence

Our Goals

In 2024, we expanded to four new schools—two in the fall and two in the spring. For the 2025–2026 school year, we've already received eight new applications from rural schools eager to join the program.

How You Can Help

Your support can change a girl’s future. Join us by:

  • Donating to fund kits and health education

  • Volunteering your time or sewing skills

  • Spreading awareness about menstrual equity

Together, we’re making sure periods don’t pause potential.
Welcome to Grandma Martha’s Hygiene Kits for Girls—where every kit is a step toward a brighter future.

Empowering Girls: Breaking Period Taboos, Building Confidence

At Hope for a Village, we believe periods should never hold a girl back. Our school health sessions go beyond hygiene—we foster dignity, body confidence, and equality.

What We Do:

  • Educate with Purpose:
We host interactive health classes covering puberty, menstrual hygiene, abstinence, reproduction, and self-respect—empowering over 50 girls recently with knowledge they can trust.

  • Equip with Care:
After each session, girls receive a reusable hygiene kit and training on how to use and care for it, helping them manage their cycles with dignity.

  • Engage Boys as Allies:
Boys also participate in puberty and menstrual education to reduce stigma and promote empathy, building a culture of mutual respect.

  • Support Schools:
School staff, including secretaries, are trained to maintain kits and offer discreet support. Each school is equipped with repair supplies and extra pads to ensure continuity and care.

A Legacy of Love

This project honors the compassion of Grandma Martha and her granddaughter Stephanie Alicia. Every kit we distribute carries their legacy forward—one girl, one story, one future at a time.
